Frequently Asked Questions.
What does the IRA Smart Ring actually measure?
Twelve signal streams: heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), blood oxygen (SpO₂), respiratory rate, skin temperature, sleep duration and stages, activity and movement, stress load, recovery score, wellness score, blood pressure trends, and ECG on demand.
Alongside these, CareShield.AI provides cortisol pattern tracking, DEXA-like body composition estimates, and blood component estimates covering uric acid, total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL and LDL.
Is this a medical device? Can I use it to diagnose something?
No. IRA is a general wellness product. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and it should not be used to make medical decisions.
The readings are designed to help you notice patterns and changes over time. They are not clinical-grade results and do not replace tests performed by a qualified professional. If you feel unwell or have symptoms, contact a healthcare professional — and in an emergency, call your local emergency number rather than waiting for a reading.
How accurate is it?
Accuracy depends heavily on fit and placement. The sensors need consistent skin contact on the underside of your finger — a ring that is loose, rotated, or worn over a callus will produce noisy data.
Optical measurements are generally most reliable at rest and overnight, and least reliable during high-intensity movement, when motion artefacts interfere with the signal. Estimated metrics such as blood pressure trends, blood components and body composition are indicative and intended for tracking direction of change, not for absolute clinical values.
Which finger should I wear it on?
Your index, middle or ring finger. The sensors must sit against the underside of the finger — the palm side — not on top.
It should be snug enough that it does not slide or rotate freely, but not so tight that it leaves a mark or restricts circulation. Fingers swell and shrink through the day and with temperature, so size for a comfortable fit at normal room temperature.
How do I take an ECG reading?
Wear the ring with the sensors correctly positioned beneath your finger. Place the thumb of your opposite hand on the front electrode, keep the back electrode in contact with your finger, then open the CareShield.AI app and go to Health → ECG. Tap Start and stay still until it completes.
Readings are saved to your history and can be exported to share with a clinician. ECG availability may vary by country depending on local regulatory approval.
How long does the battery last, and how do I charge it?
Up to 7+ days on a charge, depending on how often you take on-demand measurements such as ECG.
To charge, place the ring in the charging case and connect the case with the supplied USB cable. The magnets align the contacts for you, and the indicator light turns green when the ring is fully charged.
Can I shower, swim or wash my hands with it on?
Yes. The ring is rated to 5 ATM water resistance, which covers handwashing, showering and swimming.
Avoid hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms — heat degrades seals over time — and rinse and dry the ring after exposure to salt water, chlorine, soap or lotions, which can leave residue on the sensor window and affect readings.
What is it made of? How heavy is it?
The outer shell is titanium — light, strong and corrosion resistant — with a transparent resin inner support for a comfortable, skin-safe fit. The ring weighs about 3.1 grams, which is why most people stop noticing it within a couple of days.
How do I choose the right size?
Use the sizing guidance provided before you order, and measure at the end of the day when your fingers are at their largest. If you are between sizes, consider which finger you intend to wear it on most.
If the size you receive is clearly wrong, contact care@iraring.ai — exchanges are handled case by case, and hygiene rules limit what we can accept once a ring has been worn.
Which phones does it work with?
The CareShield.AI app is available for iOS and Android. The ring connects over Bluetooth Low Energy and pairs once during setup.
Data is stored on the ring and syncs when your phone is nearby, so you do not need to keep your phone with you for the ring to keep recording.
Do I need a subscription?
Core tracking and insights are included with the ring. Optional add-ons — such as the 90-day fitness, nutrition and metabolic health program, annual health checks and one-to-one coaching — are separate. Any recurring charge is shown clearly before you commit.
What is the 90-day program?
A guided coaching sprint covering movement, nutrition, body composition, energy and metabolic health, with one-to-one guidance from certified nutrition experts and tracking across 90 biomarkers.
It is a lifestyle and nutrition coaching service, not medical treatment. Outcomes vary between individuals, and any change to prescribed medication — including diabetes medication — must be made only under the supervision of your treating physician.
Who can see my health data?
You do. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, insurers or employers.
It is shared only with the service providers who help us run the product, with a coach if you enrol in a coaching program, and with anyone you personally choose to send a report to. You can export or delete your data at any time. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Can I use it with a pacemaker or during pregnancy?
Talk to your doctor first. We recommend medical advice before use if you have an implanted electronic device such as a pacemaker or defibrillator, a known allergy to the materials used, a circulatory condition affecting your hands, or if you are pregnant.
Can I engrave it?
Yes — you can add your name or a short quote and choose your style. Engraved rings are made to order, which affects how quickly they ship and whether they can be returned. Check the options at checkout before ordering.
What is the warranty, and what if something goes wrong?
The ring is covered against defects in materials and workmanship — see the Terms of Use for the current period and what is excluded. Normal wear, cosmetic scratches and gradual battery capacity loss are not defects.
If your ring stops charging, stops syncing, or gives readings that look clearly wrong, email care@iraring.ai with your order number and we will work through it with you.
How do I return or cancel an order?
Unused rings in original packaging can be returned within the window stated in our Terms of Use. For hygiene reasons a worn ring can only be returned if it is faulty. To start a return, email care@iraring.ai with your order number.
How do I contact support?
Email care@iraring.ai. Include your order number and, if it is a device issue, the ring's serial number from the app under Profile → Device — it saves a round trip.
